Your engagement session gives us the chance to spend time together before your wedding day, which allows you to get comfortable in front of our cameras and learn how we work. It also gives us the opportunity to get to know you as a couple, see how you naturally interact, and learn what makes you comfortable in front of the camera.

By the time your wedding day arrives, we’re not strangers showing up with cameras. We’ve already spent time together, you know what to expect from us, and we know how to photograph you. That makes such a difference when the wedding day arrives.

It’s also a chance to have photographs taken simply because you’re engaged. Choose a location that means something to you, bring your furry friends, incorporate an activity you love, or just spend some time together while we capture it.

After years of photographing weddings, we’ve found that the couples who take the time to do an engagement session often feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera on their wedding day. For us, that’s what makes the session so worthwhile.

We always encourage our couples to choose a location that means something to them or even an activity they enjoy doing together. Maybe it’s the place you had your first date, your favourite coffee shop, a trail you love walking, or something you simply enjoy doing together.

A little nervous in front of the camera? An activity can be a great way to take the pressure off. Instead of focusing on posing for photos, you can focus on enjoying something together while we capture it along the way.

And if you’re stuck for ideas, don’t worry, we’re always happy to help with recommendations and find a location that feels like you.

First, don’t worry. You are definitely not alone! Most of our couples aren’t professional models, and we don’t expect you to know what to do in front of the camera.

We won’t simply put you in a pose and tell you to smile. We’ll give you direction when you need it, but we’ll also give you space to interact naturally and focus on each other. A lot of the time, we’ll give you something to do rather than simply telling you how to stand. Walking together, talking, laughing, or simply enjoying being together while we photograph what’s happening naturally.

And here’s something we hear all the time: “We’re not photo people.” Funny enough, some of our favourite galleries have come from couples who told us exactly that before their session.

You don’t need to know how to pose or be naturally comfortable in front of a camera. That’s our job. Our goal is to help you forget about the camera, enjoy your time together, and create photographs that feel like you.

In fact, we love when our couples bring their furry friends along. Your engagement session is the perfect opportunity to include the four-legged members of your family, especially if having them at your wedding day might be too overwhelming for them.

It gives them a chance to be part of this chapter of your love story, while creating some pretty special photographs you’ll have together.

And don’t worry — we’ll make sure we get plenty of photos of just the two of you, too!

A complimentary engagement session is included with our full-day wedding package, and can be added to the others.
